Size is not only inches
Two "15.6-inch" laptops can differ noticeably in length and width, depending on how thin the screen bezels are. A current 15.6-inch machine may fit a sleeve once intended for a 14-inch one.
So for a fitted sleeve, measure the length and width of the laptop in millimetres and compare with the internal dimensions. For backpacks and shoulder bags the inch rating is enough, because there is margin.
Which type for which use
Backpack — the best choice if you carry daily. It spreads weight across both shoulders and leaves your hands free. Anti-theft versions have hidden zips and reinforced fabrics — useful when travelling and on public transport.
