Why ready-built rather than assembled

A ready-built system arrives tested as a whole and under one warranty for the entire machine. If something goes wrong, you do not have to work out which component is at fault — the system manufacturer is responsible.

It is also faster: unpack, connect, work. For an office, a business with many workstations or family use, that matters more than the last unit of performance.

Building from components makes sense when you want a specific performance balance, quiet operation or the ability to upgrade gradually. That is what the rest of this section is for.

Which shape suits you

What to check in the specifications

Memory — 16GB is the comfort point today. A system with 8GB will frustrate you early, unless it is strictly for office work.

Drive — make sure the system has an SSD and not only a mechanical drive. It is the difference between a machine that starts in seconds and one that starts in minutes.

Graphics card — if you will play games or work with video, you need a separate one. For office use, the processor’s integrated graphics are comfortably enough.

Upgradability — desktops accept new components for years. All-in-ones and mini PCs much less so, so choose them with the specifications you will still need in two years.

Desktops yes, considerably. All-in-ones and mini PCs barely — usually only memory or the drive on certain models.
Is an operating system included?
It depends on the model. It is stated in the specifications of each product.
Do I need a graphics card?
For office work, video and multiple monitors no — integrated graphics are enough. For gaming and creative work, yes.
What warranty do they carry?
The majority 36 months, with several models at 24. It is stated on each product.
