Magnetic or plain?
The 44 magnetic units align themselves — there is no waking up to an empty battery because the phone had slipped a few millimetres. They work on iPhone 12 and later, and on Android if the case has magnets.
Plain flat pads (Qi) work with any phone that supports wireless charging, whatever the brand, but need correct placement to find the coil.
How slow is it really?
Slower than a cable, yes — but the question is framed wrongly. A wireless charger does not compete with your travel charger; it competes with not charging at all. On a desk, the phone is set down dozens of times a day and charges every time.
For an overnight charge on the bedside table, speed is irrelevant. If you want a quick top-up before heading out, use a cable.
What to watch for
Case thickness: wireless charging passes through plastic and silicone, but not through a metal back or a very thick rugged case with a metal plate for a magnetic car mount. Cards: never leave a credit or debit card between the phone and the charger.
Power supply: many wireless chargers do not include a wall adapter — they need their own supply of sufficient output to perform.

Frequently asked questions
- Does it work with my case on?
- Yes, with plastic, silicone and leather cases of normal thickness. Not with metal backs or cases carrying a metal plate for a magnetic car mount.
- Does it work with Android?
- Plain Qi pads do, on any device with wireless charging. Magnetic units need a case with magnets, since most Android phones have none built in.
- Does the phone get warm?
- A little, which is normal for wireless charging. Avoid direct sunlight and closed drawers while it charges.
- Is a wall adapter included?
- Not always. Several models ship with a cable only and need a separate power supply. The product description states this.
A wireless charger changes a habit rather than a speed. If you have an iPhone 12 or later, look at the magnetic ones — and make sure your case has MagSafe.
