How much power to choose
20-30W — the right pick for a phone. It covers fast charging on iPhone, Pixel and most Android devices. Small, inexpensive, fits any bag.
45W — if you have a high-end Samsung Galaxy S or Note. These models support the PPS protocol and reach full speed only with a charger that states it.
65W and above — when you want one charger for everything: phone, tablet and a USB-C laptop from the same socket. Usually with two or three ports sharing the output.
Why GaN is worth the small premium
Gallium nitride wastes far less energy as heat than silicon. In practice that means three things: the charger is noticeably smaller at the same output, it does not get hot in your hand after an hour, and it wastes less electricity.
A 65W GaN charger is roughly the size of an old 20W one. If you carry a charger daily or travel often, it is the most noticeable upgrade you can make.
How many ports and which type
A current charger has USB-C for fast charging and often one USB-A for older cables and accessories. If you charge a phone and earbuds together, two ports is the minimum.
Note that on multi-port chargers the output is shared: a 65W unit with two devices connected may deliver 45W and 20W. The description always states this.

- Is a 65W charger safe for a phone?
- Yes. Charging is a negotiation: the device asks for as much as it can take and the charger supplies only that.

- Chargers accept 100-240V, so yes worldwide — you only need a plug adapter for countries with a different socket shape.
