Jada Toys — the display models
The bulk of the category. Jada Toys specialises in licensed vehicles from film and television, with metal bodies, opening doors and often a character figure included. 1/24 is the most striking scale for a shelf, while 1/32 lets you fit more into the same space.
Carrera — for racing, not for shelves
Carrera is a different proposition: slot racing cars and tracks, where vehicles run in a powered groove under hand-controller control. They need a track to work — a Carrera car on its own does nothing.
Check the range: systems differ in slot width and voltage, so a car will not necessarily fit every track. It is stated in the description.

- What does die-cast mean?
- That the body is cast metal rather than plastic. The model is heavier in the hand, more durable, and renders the original detail better.
- What does 1/24 scale mean?
- That the model is 24 times smaller than the real vehicle. A 1/24 car is roughly 18-20 cm, a 1/32 around 13-14 cm.
- Do Carrera cars work without a track?
- No. They are slot cars and run in a powered track groove. Without a track they are simply models.
- Does every Carrera car fit every track?
- Not necessarily. Systems differ in scale and operating voltage. Check the range stated on the product before buying.
- Are they toys or collectibles?
- Both, depending on the line. Jada 1/24 models are aimed mainly at collectors; other ranges stand up to play. Check the age marking.
