Portable or desktop?
Laptop — when the machine has to move, or when space is limited. You pay more for the same performance, but you get a screen, keyboard and battery in one body.
Desktop — better performance per euro, better cooling, less noise and upgradability for years. The right choice if the machine will sit on one desk.
All-in-one — everything inside the display, one cable, no tower. Ideal for living rooms, reception desks and small offices, at the cost of almost no upgradability.
Mini PC — the size of a book, low power draw, silent. Excellent for office work, media on a television and digital signage.

Two questions before you buy
How many years should it last? A machine with little memory today will frustrate you in two years. On laptops, check whether the memory is upgradable — many thin models have it soldered and it can never be changed.
Will you upgrade it? A desktop accepts a new graphics card, drive and memory for years. An all-in-one practically does not. If longevity matters to you, the difference is substantial.

Frequently asked questions
- Laptop or desktop for working from home?
- If the machine does not move, a desktop gives more performance per euro and stays upgradable for years. The laptop wins only on portability and space.
- Can an all-in-one be upgraded?
- Barely. On some models you can change memory or the drive, but not the graphics card or processor.
- What warranty do the machines carry?
- Most 24 or 36 months, depending on the model. It is stated on each product.
- Is it worth upgrading my old laptop?
- Often yes. Memory and an SSD together can add two or three years to a machine that has simply become slow.
