What to settle before ordering
Three questions, and all of them are answered with a tape measure — not with specifications.
1. How many inches. Measure the distance from the sofa in centimetres and divide by roughly 3. At 3 metres, 60-65 inches suits. And a truth that surprises people: the most common mistake is not buying too large — it is buying too small, because with 4K you sit closer without seeing pixels.
2. Where it will sit. If it goes on a wall mount, you need two numbers: the VESA pattern (spacing of the four screws on the back, in millimetres) and the weight. And check the wall — plasterboard needs fixing into a stud, not plugs alone.
3. How it will sound. No thin television has room for serious speakers. A soundbar or speakers make a bigger difference to the experience than a tier up in screen. Budget for it from the start, not afterwards.
And two things that cost when ignored
The cable. For 4K at a high refresh rate — particularly with a current-generation console — you need the right HDMI cable. An old cable limits the picture, and the symptom looks like a television fault.
The operating system. It shapes the daily experience more than you would think — menu speed, available apps, years of updates. If a service is missing or the menus slow down over the years, a media player solves it for very little — and is clearly cheaper than a new television.

Frequently asked questions
- How many inches should I buy?
- Measure the distance from the sofa in centimetres and divide by 3. At 3 metres, 60-65 inches suits.
- OLED or QLED?
- QLED for a bright living room — they are brighter. OLED for films in a dark room.
- How do I know a wall mount fits?
- You need the VESA pattern — the spacing of the four screws on the back in millimetres — and the mount’s weight limit.
- Do I need separate speakers?
- Almost always. No thin television has room for serious speakers — and it is the cheapest upgrade to the experience.
- My television has slowed down. Should I replace it?
- Try a media player first. Television operating systems stop receiving updates after a few years.
- What warranty do they carry?
- All 337 televisions 24 months. The AVTek interactive displays reach five years.
Measure distance, VESA and weight before ordering — and budget for sound from the start. It is part of the purchase, not an extra.
