The four essentials
- Sleeves — clear or coloured, one per card. A 60-card deck needs at least 64 — always a few spare.
- Deck box — a carrying case for a full deck, often with room for dice and counters.
- Binder — an album with clear pockets, usually 9 per page, for collecting and display.
- Toploader — a rigid clear holder for a single high-value card.
Which sleeve size
Two sizes cover almost everything. Standard (around 66×91 mm) fits Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering and most Western lines. Japanese or small (around 59×86 mm) fits Yu-Gi-Oh and Japanese editions.
Serious players use double sleeving: an inner clear perfect-fit sleeve with a coloured opaque one over it. It guards against moisture and prevents the card being read from the back.
