What the panel does
The panel is where everything meets: detectors send signals, keypads arm and disarm, sirens activate, and the alert goes out to your phone or to a monitoring centre.
Without a panel, detectors are isolated devices. With a panel they become a system — with zones, scenarios, an event log and the ability to arm part of the space while you are inside.
Wired, wireless or hybrid?
Wired. Detectors connect by cable. It is the most reliable and has no batteries to change — but it assumes you can run cables. Ideal in new build or renovation.
Wireless. Detectors communicate over radio. It installs in an existing home with no damage, but every sensor has a battery to change every few years.
Hybrid. It accepts both. The practical answer when old cabling exists but you want to expand wirelessly.
The three things that decide whether it really works
Backup battery. An alarm that dies with the power does not protect — and cutting the supply is among the first things anyone would do. Every serious panel has a battery lasting hours.
A second alert path. If the alert only goes out over the internet and the line is cut, nothing goes out. Serious installations also have a SIM card as backup.
Correct zone setup. An alarm that goes off for no reason stops being used within a month. False alarms from pets, draughts or badly placed sensors are the number one reason a system ends up permanently disarmed.

Frequently asked questions
- Wired or wireless?
- Wired in new build — more reliable, no batteries. Wireless in an existing home, with no damage.
- Does it work in a power cut?
- Every serious panel has a backup battery lasting hours. Without one, the alarm does not protect.
- How does it alert me?
- By app, SMS or a monitoring centre. Ideally with a second path, such as a SIM card, if the internet is cut.
- Why does it go off for no reason?
- Usually poor zone setup or a sensor in the wrong place. It is the number one reason a system ends up disarmed.
- Why do I see no products?
