PSP / PSVita Accessories
PSP & PlayStation Vita Accessories
Memory cards, cases, chargers and screen protection. Most important: the PS Vita needs a proprietary memory card, without which it stores nothing.
At a glance
- The Vita card: a proprietary type, effectively mandatory.
- The PSP takes Memory Stick: a different standard from the Vita.
- Screens that scratch: both consoles want protection when carried.
- Chargers by model: PSP and Vita use different connectors.

The memory card question
This is the most common problem with these consoles. The PS Vita does not accept common cards: it uses a proprietary Sony type, and without one you cannot store games or save data. In practice it is mandatory.
The PSP uses Memory Stick, also a Sony standard but a different one from the Vita. The two do not interchange.

Frequently asked questions
- What memory card does the PS Vita need?
- A proprietary Sony type. It does not accept common microSD or SD cards, and without one you cannot store games or save data.
- Is the card mandatory?
- In practice yes. Without it the console works only with physical game cards, and several titles cannot save progress.
- Does a PSP card fit a Vita?
- No. The PSP uses Memory Stick and the Vita its own standard. They do not interchange.
- Does the same charger work on both?
- Not always. PSP and Vita models use different connectors — check your model.
- Do I need screen protection?
- If the console travels, yes. The screen is the first thing to scratch in a bag.
- Can I collect my order from the shop?
- Yes, choose collection at checkout, with no shipping cost.
The card comes first
If you have just acquired a PS Vita, the memory card is not an accessory — it is a prerequisite. Without one, the console stores nothing.
