Size first, colour second
A strap is chosen not by the brand of the watch but by the strap width in millimetres. The most common are 20 mm and 22 mm, with 18 mm on smaller cases and 24 mm on large sports watches.
The Apple Watch follows different logic: straps are grouped by case size — 38/40/41 mm for the small ones and 42/44/45/49 mm for the large, including the Ultra. A strap from the small group will not fit the large one.
Which material for which use
Silicone — for training and summer. Washable, does not hold sweat, unaffected by water. The most practical everyday choice.
Woven nylon — light and breathable, comfortable over long distances, adjustable at many points.
Leather — for the office and evenings out. Best kept away from water and heavy perspiration.
Metal bracelet — the most formal option, and the heaviest. Many models adjust by removing links.
Screen and case protection
A watch display meets doorframes, tables and weights far more often than a phone screen, because it sits on the most active part of your body. Two approaches: glass or film for the display alone, or a bumper case that wraps the housing too, protecting the corners from scratches.
On sports watches with a domed lens, a film is often the only thing that bonds properly.

- How do I find the right size?
- For most watches what matters is the strap width in millimetres — usually 20 or 22 mm. Measure the opening where the strap attaches with a ruler. For Apple Watch the case size matters, not the width.
- Does a 41 mm Apple Watch strap fit a 45 mm?
- No. Apple Watch straps split into two groups, 38/40/41 mm and 42/44/45/49 mm, and they are not interchangeable.
- Do you have Garmin straps?
- Yes, 150 items. Many Garmin models use a standard width, so they also accept generic straps of the same dimension.
- Can I swim with a leather strap?
- Better not. Leather stiffens and degrades with water and sweat. For swimming and training choose silicone.
- Does a watch screen need protection?
- More than you would think — your wrist meets doorframes, tables and gym equipment. Glass or a bumper case costs very little against a display replacement.
