The three questions to answer before buying
With any electric vehicle, regardless of size, the same three questions decide whether it suits you.
1. Where will you charge it. The first and most important. If you have a garage or a space with a socket, life is simple. If you park on the street, charging becomes a daily problem — and an extension lead from a balcony is not a solution, it is a hazard. See the chargers.
2. How many kilometres you actually do. Not in the worst case of the year — in daily use. Stated range is measured in ideal conditions and falls noticeably with cold, hills and speed.
3. What the law says. For light personal electric vehicles there is a framework setting speed limits, age, equipment and where riding is permitted. Check what currently applies, because the provisions evolve.
The battery is the expensive part
In any electric vehicle, the battery is the most expensive component and the first to age. Two things protect it and cost nothing.
Do not leave it flat. Full discharge over a long period causes permanent damage. For storage, around half charge.
Avoid extreme temperatures when charging. In a Greek summer, charging in a closed metal space at midday is the worst scenario.
And ask before buying: can the battery be replaced? On some models it cannot, and when it is finished, so is the vehicle.
