Temperature is everything
The most important feature is not the plate material but temperature control. The reason is simple: every hair type tolerates something different.
Fine, coloured or damaged hair needs a low temperature. Thick, dense or curly hair takes higher. A device with a single fixed temperature is always wrong for one of the two.
The rule that saves hair: start at the lowest temperature that works. If the style holds, you need no more. Damage from excessive heat is irreversible — hair cannot be repaired, only cut.
