uvex – Cycling helmets & eyewear
German protection company since 1926
uvex makes cycling helmets and eyewear for adults and children, with German manufacturing and a clear focus on safety.
Many models feature MIPS — an internal layer that slides to reduce rotational forces in an angled impact, the type of blow that causes the most serious brain injuries.

Frequently asked questions about uvex
- What is MIPS?
- An internal layer that slides a few millimetres during impact, reducing rotational forces on the head. Those forces cause the most serious brain injuries, not the direct blow.
- How do I choose a size?
- With a tape measure, around the head just above the eyebrows. Children's sizes start at 46 cm — age alone is not enough.
- When should a helmet be replaced?
- After any impact, even if it looks intact. The material absorbs a crash once.
- Do I need cycling glasses?
- They protect from wind, insects, dust and ultraviolet light. At speed, an insect in the eye is a genuine hazard.
