Origin and character’s universe

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood is the first part of Hirohiko Araki’s series. It introduces the seminal rivalry between Jonathan Joestar, heir to the Joestar family, and Dio Brando, an ambitious, cruel and manipulative young man taken in by the same family.

Dio Brando is one of the most significant antagonists in the entire JoJo saga. In Phantom Blood, he stands out for his intelligence, his pride and his desire for domination. His relationship with Jonathan lays the foundations for a conflict that will shape several generations of the Joestar family.

Thanks to the mysterious stone mask, Dio becomes a supernatural threat and reaches a decisive turning point in his rise to power. This transformation makes him far more than just a rival: he becomes a central figure in the JoJo universe, a symbol of boundless ambition, malevolent charisma and eternal rivalry.

The ‘Gathering of RIVALS’ collection pays tribute to the saga’s greatest adversaries, bringing together several major antagonists in striking poses. This version of Dio Brando represents the historic starting point of this lineage of rivals, prior to the later clashes involving Stands and subsequent generations of the Joestar family.
