Short description
TANKHEAD – Type 33 Heikegani – 1/48 Scale Model Kit 10.3 cm

Taken from the original TANKHEAD mechanical universe conceived by concept artist Emerson Tung, the Type 33 Heikegani joins the BellFine range of model kits in the form of an imposing 1/48 scale model kit. This six-legged combat machine belongs to the Yamaichi Dominion and combines a crab-inspired silhouette with elements reminiscent of traditional Japanese armour.

Its design is characterised by a low, massive structure, six articulated limbs and an arsenal including, notably, a 120 mm main gun, missiles and rotating cannons. The design blends organic shapes reminiscent of the crustacean with highly detailed mechanical and military features. The original design and box art are by Emerson Tung, whilst the kit’s design is by MDT (Mizuho Town Design Team).

Comprising around 450 moulded parts in four colours, this kit uses a snap-fit assembly system that requires no glue. Once assembled and positioned as shown in the reference images, the Type 33 Heikegani measures approximately 27 cm in length and 10.3 cm in height, making for a particularly imposing presence for a 1/48 scale model.

Character background and universe (Lore)

TANKHEAD is a mechanical science-fiction universe created by artist and concept designer Emerson Tung. The story is set on the planet Artde, which is embroiled in a global conflict known as the Neverwar. Three major powers are locked in battle there, primarily using walking war machines known as Tankheads: the Britonica Alliance, the Greater Kyzerian Empire and the Yamaichi Dominion.

The Type 33 Heikegani belongs to the Yamaichi Dominion, a faction whose aesthetic draws heavily on imagery from feudal Japan. Its name and silhouette are a reference to the heikegani, a Japanese crab whose shell is traditionally associated with the appearance of a samurai’s face. This inspiration is reflected in the machine’s armour and design, which combine references to Japanese warrior armour, crustacean anatomy and futuristic military design.
