JERRY LEWIS - Professor Julius Kelp - Statue Limited Ed. 1/6 30cm

JERRY LEWIS – Professor Julius Kelp – Old & Rare Deluxe Limited Edition 1/6 Scale Statue, 30 cm

Infinite Statue pays tribute to Jerry Lewis and one of his most famous characters with this statue of Professor Julius Kelp, the protagonist of the film *The Nutty Professor* (*Doctor Jerry and Mister Love*). Part of the Old & Rare collection, this 1/6 scale piece depicts the professor in his characteristic appearance, with his outfit, glasses and clumsy demeanour directly inspired by the 1963 film.

Unlike the standard edition, it features a genuine diorama display, with Julius Kelp surrounded by various pieces of scientific equipment and accessories reminiscent of his laboratory. The deliberately cluttered composition captures the atmosphere of the character’s chaotic experiments and highlights numerous details in the furniture, instruments and the professor’s outfit.

Character background and lore

Professor Julius Kelp is the main character in *The Nutty Professor*, an American comedy released in 1963, directed by Jerry Lewis and written by Jerry Lewis and Bill Richmond. Lewis plays Julius Kelp himself, an intelligent but extremely clumsy and shy chemistry professor who regularly causes disastrous laboratory experiments.

Seeking, in particular, to gain confidence and impress his student Stella Purdy, Kelp develops an experimental chemical formula. This brings about a spectacular transformation: the reserved professor becomes Buddy Love, an elegant, self-assured and charismatic nightclub singer, but also an arrogant and self-centred figure. The problem is that the potion’s effects are temporary, forcing Kelp to cope with his two personalities.

The ‘Infinite Statue’ has chosen to depict Julius Kelp rather than his alter ego Buddy Love, emphasising the scientific setting that defines the character. The instruments and accessories arranged around him in this Deluxe Edition thus transform the piece into a miniature scene directly evoking his laboratory and the experiments that set the film’s events in motion.
