Peanuts & Snoopy – Characters, History & Collectibles
Seventy-six years, a creator who drew every single strip himself, and a dog who sells equally well to children and adults.

Who is who
The white dog with black ears who sleeps on top of his kennel. By far the most commercial.
The boy in the yellow zigzag shirt. The lead – and the eternally unlucky one.
The little yellow bird – Snoopy's best friend.
The boy with the blue blanket he never lets go of.
Linus's sister – blunt, with her five-cent psychiatric advice stand.
The inseparable pair – one in glasses, the other with freckles.
If you do not know what to choose: Snoopy, always. He is the one character recognised by every age and in every country.
The man behind them
The first strip appeared on 2 October 1950. Its creator, Charles M. Schulz, did something almost nobody else has.
He drew every single one himself. For nearly fifty years. No assistants, no team of artists – every line, every figure, every punchline.
Schulz died on 12 February 2000 – the night before his final Sunday strip ran.
He never saw it in print.
Since then, no new strip has ever been drawn. It was his own condition: when he stopped, Peanuts stopped.
What is happening now
The strips stopped, but the gang never did. Apple TV is the exclusive home of Peanuts through 2030.

Why it sells to adults
Peanuts is filed under children's brands. But its audience is not only children.
Snoopy works on products where most children's characters do not: mugs, homeware, adult clothing, stationery.
The reason is the design: it is black and white, clean and minimal. It does not shout "children's" the way a brightly coloured hero does. It can sit in an adult's kitchen without looking out of place.
The same holds for Hello Kitty – two characters with the same quality, from entirely different countries.
What to choose
- Plush: Snoopy and Woodstock – the most popular product.
- Figures: the whole gang, from play figures to collectibles.
- Mugs & homeware: where Snoopy works best for adults.
- School gear: backpacks, pencil cases, stationery.
- Apparel: t-shirts – for children and adults.
