Why a mini oven makes sense
A full oven needs fifteen minutes of preheating and heats an entire cavity to cook two pieces of food. For one or two people, that is a waste of time and electricity every day.
A mini oven heats in minutes, uses a fraction of the power and does not heat the kitchen — which in a Greek summer is no small detail.
It is also the answer for a bedsit, holiday home, office or student flat, where there is no built-in oven.
What to check
Capacity in litres. Small 10-20 litre models cook toast, sandwiches and small portions. 30-45 litre models take a roasting tin, a whole chicken and a pizza — and that is the point where a mini oven becomes a genuine oven replacement.
Fan or not. A fan oven cooks evenly and faster, especially on two levels. Without a fan, you have to turn the tray halfway.
Tray and rack. Check what is included. Many mini ovens come with a tray, rack and handle — others with a rack only.
Mini oven or microwave?
Different jobs. A microwave heats fast and defrosts, but does not brown or crisp — which is why pizza comes out rubbery.
A mini oven genuinely bakes and browns, but is slower for simple reheating.
There are also combination models that do both, if space allows only one appliance.

Frequently asked questions
- Does it replace a full oven?
- A 30-45 litre mini oven covers most everyday cooking — a small tray, chicken, pizza. For large quantities, no.
- Which capacity should I choose?
- 10-20 litres for toast and small portions, 30-45 litres if you want to cook proper meals.
- Do I need a fan?
- It helps with even, faster cooking, especially on two levels. Without one, turn the tray halfway.
- Mini oven or microwave?
- A mini oven for baking and browning. A microwave for fast reheating and defrosting. Combination models exist.
- Does it use less electricity?
- Clearly, for small quantities. It heats a much smaller cavity and preheats in minutes.
For one or two people, a mini oven does the full oven’s job in half the time and a fraction of the power. See the air fryers too.
