Sonic turns thirty-five this year, and Sega has planned a full year of anniversary releases. The next film, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, arrives on 19 March 2027.

The series' most recent game, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, keeps adding characters from other universes. A child playing it meets heroes they did not know – and often goes looking for them afterwards:

Plus Pac-Man, Mega Man and Joker from Persona. Sega is adding content throughout 2026.

Sonic games appear on every console – unlike some other franchises. But each disc is for one specific system. Check which console the child has and pick the matching edition: the same game for PlayStation will not run on a Switch.
