A siren is not just noise

It does three things at once, and only the first is obvious.

It drives intruders away. The overwhelming majority of break-ins are abandoned within the first seconds once a loud siren sounds. Nobody wants an audience.

It alerts the neighbourhood. An outdoor siren with a strobe shows exactly which house — which matters when help is called.

It alerts you inside the house. The indoor siren wakes you, which is why a system needs both types.

What makes a siren reliable

Its own backup battery. This is the critical one. A siren depending solely on the panel stops if the cable is cut. Serious sirens sound precisely when their supply is cut — the sabotage attempt becomes the alarm itself.

Tamper protection. A switch that triggers if someone opens or prises off the housing.

Weatherproof housing for outdoor use. The siren stays exposed to rain and sun for years. Cheap plastic cracks and water finishes the job.

Mounted high. High up and out of easy ladder reach — but visible, because a visible siren works as a deterrent before it ever sounds.
