Sam Raimi's Trilogy (2002–2007)

It all started with Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi, who brought Spider-Man to the big screen. The first movie (2002) was a masterpiece that set the template for all superhero movies that followed. Peter Parker, an ordinary teenager bitten by a radioactive spider, discovers his superpowers and must face the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe). This was followed by Spider-Man 2 (2004) featuring the iconic Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), and Spider-Man 3 (2007) with Venom and Sandman. The trilogy remains classic and deeply loved by fans.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012–2014)

Andrew Garfield took over the role of Peter Parker in a new era. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) introduced Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and the Lizard (Rhys Ifans), offering a more modern and darker take on the hero. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) brought Electro (Jamie Foxx) and the Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan), but despite some powerful scenes, the series failed to reach the heights of Raimi's trilogy.

Marvel Cinematic Universe – Tom Holland Era (2016–2024+)

Tom Holland entered the MCU as the new Spider-Man, changing everything. He started with a cameo in Captain America: Civil War (2016), where Peter Parker was still a teenager discovering his powers. This was followed by Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), where Peter must face the Vulture (Michael Keaton) and find his place in the MCU. Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) introduced Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) and opened up new possibilities for the multiverse. And Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) was an absolute phenomenon — combining all three eras of Spider-Man, bringing back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, and introducing Doctor Strange. The film became one of the biggest box office hits of all time.

Spider-Verse – The New Dimension (2018–2023)

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) was a revolution — an animated movie that combined art, animation, and storytelling on a brand new level. Miles Morales, a teenager from New York, discovers that he is the Spider-Man of his universe and must save the multiverse. The film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. It was followed by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), which explored even more universes and characters, leaving fans speechless with its cliffhanger. A third film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is currently in development.

Spin-offs & Venom Universe

Venom (2018) starring Tom Hardy brought the beloved villain/anti-hero to the forefront, followed by Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) and Venom: The Last Dance (2024). Although not directly part of the main MCU storyline, these films created their own universe and connected with the wider Spider-Man multiverse.

TV Series – From Television to Streaming

Spider-Man (1977–1979) — The first live-action series starring Nicholas Hammond, which became a cult classic. The Amazing Spider-Man (1978–1979) — A second series that followed. Although low-budget, these series were groundbreaking for their time.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013–2020) — While not exclusively about Spider-Man, it includes references and connections. Daredevil (2015–2018) — A series set in the same universe as Spider-Man that featured crossovers. The Defenders (2017) — A limited series that united Netflix's heroes. Comics – Where It All Began

Spider-Man was created in 1962 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in the comic book Amazing Fantasy #15. Since then, he has become one of Marvel's most popular characters, with hundreds of comic issues exploring Peter Parker's life and adventures as the Web-Slinger.

The Clone Saga (1994–1998) — One of the most major sagas that introduced Ben Reilly and changed everything. One More Day (2007) — A controversial saga where Peter trades his marriage to Mary Jane to save his Aunt May. The Superior Spider-Man (2013–2014) — A saga where Doctor Octopus takes over Peter Parker's body. Spider-Verse (2014–2015) — An epic crossover that united multiple versions of Spider-Man from different universes.

Brand New Day (2026): Brand New Day is a comic book saga that originally started in 2008 and continues to influence stories today. The saga focuses on a new era for Peter Parker, where the world no longer remembers he is Spider-Man (due to Doctor Strange's magic). This change creates new challenges and adventures as Peter must face the consequences and protect his loved ones without them knowing his true identity. This dynamic has inspired the Brand New Day (2026) film releasing on July 31, 2026, bringing this setup to the big screen with Tom Holland.
