Character background and lore

Colonel James Braddock is the protagonist of *Missing in Action*, an action film released in 1984, directed by Joseph Zito and starring Chuck Norris. A former prisoner of war in Vietnam, Braddock remains convinced that American soldiers are still being held captive in the country following the end of the conflict.

After accompanying a government delegation tasked with investigating the fate of the missing soldiers, Braddock embarks on his own mission when he receives information about the existence of a prisoner-of-war camp. In particular, he travels to Thailand to track down his former comrade-in-arms Jack “Tuck” Tucker, before secretly returning to Vietnam to search for and free the captives.

The character became one of the iconic figures of 1980s American action cinema and went on to feature in two further films: *Missing in Action 2: The Beginning*, which revisits his captivity, and *Braddock: Missing in Action III*. The statue by Infinite Statue focuses on Braddock’s appearance in the first film, featuring his military uniform, his weaponry and a pose designed to capture the aesthetic of the feature film’s action scenes.
