BRIO – Swedish wooden toys
Swedish toy company since 1884
BRIO is one of the most respected names in wooden toys, dating back to 1884. It is not only trains: its catalogue divides into four distinct worlds.
BRIO World with trains and track, Builder with construction, screws and motors, the Flora range with houses and flowers, and baby toys for the earliest months. The common thread: wood, simplicity and pieces that fit together.
BRIO World: trains and track
Builder: construction with tools
Flora: houses and flowers

Frequently asked questions about BRIO
- Do pieces fit older sets?
- In BRIO World yes — the track system has stayed compatible for decades, so new pieces combine with old.
- What is the Builder range?
- Construction sets with wooden and plastic parts, screws and tools — some with motors or remote control. They develop fine motor skills and logic.
- From what age?
- Baby toys start at a few months, trains usually from 18 months with larger pieces, and Builder from age 3 upwards. Check the marking on each set.
- Do they need batteries?
- Basic trains do not — they are pushed by hand. Motorised locomotives, Smart Tech items and some Builder sets do.
