Take notes like a Hogwarts student with this A5 Harry Potter “Magical Creatures” notebook made by Pyramid International. Origin and lore

Care of Magical Creatures is a subject taught at Hogwarts, dedicated to the study of the various animals of the wizarding world. Lessons take place mainly outdoors and enable pupils to learn first-hand about the behaviour, habitat and feeding habits of creatures such as Hippogriffs, Nifflers and Veracrasses. In Harry Potter’s time, the subject was taught by Rubeus Hagrid and Professor Wilhelmina Gobe-Planche, amongst others.

The Hippogriff depicted on the cover is a creature that is half-horse, half-eagle and capable of flight. It is a very proud creature and demands to be approached with respect: in particular, one must bow before it and wait for it to return the greeting before stepping forward.

One of the best-known Hippogriffs in the series is Buck, known as Buckbeak in English. Hagrid introduces him to Harry and his classmates during their first Care of Magical Creatures lesson in their third year. Harry manages to win his trust and even takes a ride on his back, whilst Draco Malfoy learns the hard way that a hippogriff does not tolerate provocation.
