How to weigh yourself properly

Body weight varies naturally by one or two kilos within the same day — from water, food and time. If you weigh yourself at random moments, you are measuring that noise rather than real change.

The right way: same time, same conditions. Ideally in the morning, after the toilet, before breakfast, in the same clothes or none.

And a solid surface: a scale on a rug or an uneven floor gives a different reading every time. Tiles, always.

Body composition and what it actually shows

Scales that measure fat and muscle send a weak electrical current through the body and calculate from the resistance. It is an indirect method.

In practice that means the absolute number is not accurate — it is heavily affected by hydration, whether you have eaten, whether you have trained. Two readings two hours apart can differ noticeably.

But that does not make them useless. Their value lies in the trend: if weight stays the same but body fat percentage falls steadily over weeks, the information is real and useful — something a plain scale would never show you.

App connectivity

Its real benefit is not the technology — it is that you do not have to record anything. The app keeps a history and draws a graph, where the trend shows rather than the number of the day.

And a reminder worth more than any feature: a scale is a tool, not a judge. If weighing creates anxiety, the most useful thing is to weigh less often — once a week gives a clearer picture than every day.
