You do not need a steam machine
The traditional route to cappuccino runs through a steam wand on an espresso machine — which means a more expensive machine and practice. A separate milk frother solves the problem for far less money.
Pour milk, press a button, and in a minute you have dense foam. It works independently of how you make your coffee — it suits a capsule machine, a Bialetti stovetop pot, even instant.
Hot or cold?
Most current frothers do both. Hot is for cappuccino, latte and hot chocolate. Cold is for frappé, freddo cappuccino and summer drinks — which in Greece is not a secondary use.
A practical note: whole milk froths more easily than skimmed because of its fat content, while plant-based drinks vary widely — the ones sold as "barista" versions are adapted for exactly this.
Cleaning: the one thing that matters
Milk dries quickly and leaves residue that causes bad taste and smell. A rinse immediately after use is enough — and it is the difference between a device that lasts years and one that ends up in a cupboard.

Frequently asked questions
- Do I need an espresso machine?
- No. A separate frother works with any coffee — capsule, stovetop or even instant.
- Does it froth cold as well?
- Most current models do, which is essential for freddo and frappé.
- Which milk froths best?
- Whole milk, because of its fat content. Among plant-based drinks, the barista versions are made for frothing.
- How is it cleaned?
- Rinse immediately after use. Milk dries quickly and leaves residue that is hard to remove.
A small device that noticeably improves your morning coffee. Pair it with a coffee machine or even a stovetop pot.
