Breast pumps: wearable or conventional?

This is the choice that decides how manageable daily life becomes.

Wearable, tube-free. The Momcozy S9, S12, M5, M6, M9 ranges and the Neno Perla, Sole, Belisa sit inside the bra and work while you move — at home, at work, with another child in your arms. For many mothers that is the difference between pumping regularly and giving up.

Conventional with a motor unit. Usually stronger and steadier suction, at the cost of sitting beside the device. A good choice for pumping at home at set times.

Single or double set? A double set pumps both breasts at once and roughly halves the time. If you pump several times a day, the difference is substantial.

Flange size matters

It is the most commonly overlooked point and the main reason pumping becomes uncomfortable or ineffective.

Flanges are not one size for everyone. They come in different sizes, and you will find replacement flanges and inserts here — 17 mm, 24 mm, 27 mm — for exactly this reason.

The wrong size means either discomfort and irritation or a smaller yield than there should be. If something is not right with your pump, flange size is the first thing worth checking — and often the only thing that needs changing.

Baby monitors: what you actually need

With a dedicated receiver. The Neno and TrueLife NannyCam ranges come with their own screen. The advantage is that they do not depend on Wi-Fi, a phone or the internet — they always work, even if the connection drops. For most parents, that is what matters most.

With Wi-Fi and an app. The Neno AMI and Orso models let you watch from anywhere. Useful when you are out and the baby is with someone else.

Robotic cameras. The Enabot units move around the room rather than staying fixed — and keep being useful as the child grows.

The features that genuinely matter at night: night vision, two-way audio so you can speak to the baby without entering the room, and a room temperature reading.

Safety: three points that cannot be skipped

Keep the cable away from the cot. This is the absolute rule for every monitor and camera. Place the device at least a metre from the cot and secure the cable so it cannot reach inside by any means.

Change the default passwords. On any Wi-Fi camera, the factory password is publicly known. Change it immediately and keep the firmware updated.

Cleaning and sterilising. The pump parts that come into contact with milk are cleaned after every use, following the manufacturer’s instructions. The Neno 6-in-1 devices — steriliser, warmer and drying together — exist precisely to make that simple.
