World of Warcraft

One question decides the gift, and it has only two answers: Horde or Alliance?

Horde or Alliance – the one question that matters

In World of Warcraft every player belongs to one of two factions. It is not a detail of the game – it is an identity, often twenty years deep.

ALLIANCEBlue and gold, with the lion. Humans, dwarves, night elves.
HORDERed and black, with the angular symbol. Orcs, trolls, tauren.

Giving an Alliance player a Horde product is like handing a football supporter the rival club's shirt. It is not merely "wrong" – it will never be used.

The good news is that there are only two answers. One question, and the gift lands.

The buyer here is an adult

World of Warcraft launched in 2004. It has more than twenty years behind it, and many players have followed it since the beginning.

This is not a children's category. The audience is adults who know exactly what they want – character, class, faction.

In practice: what sells here is premium statues, adult sizes in apparel, desk and homeware – not toys. And customers spend more per item than in almost any other category.

The "Midnight" expansion – March 2026

The game is renewed through expansions. The eleventh arrived this year.

World of Warcraft: Midnight – 2 March 2026

The forces of the Void invade Quel'Thalas, the elven homeland, targeting the Sunwell. The capital, Silvermoon, has been rebuilt from the ground up.

It also brought Player Housing – the feature players had been asking for for years: your own home, which you decorate and build.

Midnight is the second part of a trilogy that began with "The War Within" in 2024. The third, "The Last Titan", has been announced but has no release date.

Why it matters for collecting: each expansion brings new characters and new symbols – and a collector who plays actively will look for the recent ones.

If you cannot ask – the neutral choice

It is not always possible to ask about the faction without spoiling the surprise. There is a way around it.

The World of Warcraft logo and the symbols of the world itself belong to no faction. The same goes for products showing locations, maps or an expansion emblem.

Also safe: mugs and desk items with the logo, posters of Azeroth landscapes, and collectibles about the whole universe rather than one side of it.

What to choose

  • Premium statues: the strongest line here – check the faction.
  • Funko POP: characters from both sides.
  • Apparel: in adult sizes, with faction symbols or neutral designs.
  • Mugs & desk items: among the safest gift choices.
  • Posters & maps: Azeroth landscapes – neutral and striking.
  • Keyrings & accessories: small gifts with symbols.

Same audience: Diablo from the same company, Warhammer and League of Legends.

Frequently asked questions

What should I ask before buying a gift?
The faction: Horde or Alliance? Every player belongs to one of the two and it is a decades-deep identity. A product from the "wrong" side will not be used. Fortunately there are only two answers.
How do I tell the two factions apart?
By the colours. Alliance is blue and gold, with a lion. Horde is red and black, with an angular symbol.
What should I buy if I cannot ask?
Something neutral: the game logo, posters of Azeroth landscapes, or desk items. They belong to no faction and work for any player.
What is "Midnight"?
The eleventh expansion, released in March 2026. It brought the Void's invasion of the elven homeland, a rebuilt Silvermoon, and the long-awaited Player Housing feature.
Is it for children?
Not mainly. The game has existed since 2004 and the collectibles audience is adults – which is why you will find adult sizes and premium statues rather than toys.

What is happening this month

World of Warcraft is not renewed only through expansions. Major updates arrive between them and change the game – and one is landing right now.

"Curse of Ula'tek" – 12 August 2026 in Europe

The first major update to the Midnight expansion. It brings a new zone, the Coiled Isle, a new dungeon, new quests and improvements to the housing system.

Its theme is snakes and venom – built around an ancient troll god.

And one week later, on 19 August: the second season of Midnight begins, with a new eight-boss raid and refreshed competitive content.

Each new season resets the gear ladder and starts a fresh race – it is the period when players are most active.

And BlizzCon arrives in September – the company's annual event, where the game's next steps are announced.

Why it matters: when the game is in a new season, players are in it daily – and that is exactly when they look at collectibles too.
