The story of Moana (no major spoilers)

Moana is the daughter of a village chief, raised with the responsibility of her community, but also with an unexplained pull toward the ocean. When the balance of nature begins to waver, Moana is called to do what no one dares: travel beyond the boundaries set for her, follow the signs of her ancestors, and find answers in a world full of legends.

The plot of Moana relies on 3 strong points that make it so beloved: leadership (without losing her humanity), identity (who she is and what it means to be a chief), and courage (going against fear). It is a coming-of-age journey with modern Disney energy: the heroine doesn't wait to be saved — she chooses to act.

On her journey, she meets the demigod Maui, a character with a huge "legend vibe," humor, and strength, who also deals with his own internal conflicts. Together, they face challenges at sea, obstacles, and moments that build Moana's self-confidence as a wayfinder and leader.

Note on "series": During the franchise's development cycle, there were announcements/plans for a Disney+ follow-up in "series/episodic" format, but ultimately the path that dominates is movies (animated sequel) and live‑action (2026).

To date, there has not been a major standalone game for consoles/PC that is "just Moana."
