The last chapter before the break appeared in December 2024. Then, silence.
On 28 June 2026, after almost two years, chapter 411 was published.
Volume 39 followed in July, and chapters have continued appearing right through to today.
The creator, Yoshihiro Togashi, has said he has more than twenty chapters completed – which means this run may last.
Who is who
The lead – spiky green hair. He is searching for his father.
Silver hair, son of a family of assassins. Gon's closest friend.

Commercially notable: Hisoka is an antagonist, yet he sells as well as the heroes. His design – the star and the teardrop on his face – is among the most recognisable in anime.
What Nen is
Every anime has a power system. In Hunter x Hunter it is called Nen, and many consider it the best-designed one ever written.
It is not simply "energy". It has six categories, strict rules, and – most importantly – a cost: the more powerful the ability, the heavier the restrictions you must accept to use it.
That is why fights in Hunter x Hunter feel closer to chess than to brawling. And it is why its audience skews older than most shonen series.
Why fans waited so patiently
Hunter x Hunter's hiatuses are legendary. The reason, though, is not indifference.
Togashi suffers from severe, chronic back pain that makes weekly drawing extremely difficult. Even so, he refuses to compromise on quality – frequently redrawing entire sections for the volume editions when the magazine versions do not satisfy him.
He has written four possible endings in a letter – so the story can be completed even if he cannot finish it himself.
He is supported in his work by his wife, Naoko Takeuchi – the creator of Sailor Moon.
