Asterix & Obelix
One of the very few that grandparents, parents and children all recognise – and that makes it a rare kind of gift.

Three generations – and why it matters
Most themes in the shop belong to one generation. A grandparent does not know Fortnite; a child does not know the Rolling Stones.
Asterix is one of the rare exceptions. It has been published across Europe for decades, and three generations recognise it instantly.
In practice that means the gift works in every direction: grandparent to grandchild, parent to child, and – very often – an adult buying for themselves.
It is one of the few categories where the buyer does not need to ask anything first.
There is a Greek connection too: the album "Asterix at the Olympic Games" is set in ancient Greece, and is among the best-loved here.
Who is who – they cannot be confused
Unlike almost every other category, here there is no chance of picking the wrong character. They are designed to be told apart at a glance.
Tiny, with a blond moustache and a winged helmet. The clever one.
Enormous, with orange plaits and blue-and-white striped trousers. Carries a menhir. The most popular in merchandise.
Obelix's little white dog. The safest choice for young children.
The druid with the white beard and the golden sickle – he brews the magic potion.
The menhir and the potion cauldron are recognised with no character at all – they work on a mug or t-shirt on their own.
The albums – here the book is the product
This is the big difference in this category. In most themes the main product is a figure. Here it is the album.
Asterix first appeared in 1959. Forty-one albums have been published and over four hundred million copies sold, in more than a hundred languages.
The most recent, "Asterix in Lusitania", was released in October 2025 in nineteen languages simultaneously – and has already passed 1.7 million copies.
The series continues under new creators: Fabcaro writing and Didier Conrad drawing, keeping the style of Goscinny and Uderzo.
A new film at Christmas – and a series on Netflix
"Asterix – The Kingdom of Nubia", December 2026
The twelfth animated Asterix film, with an original story.
The premise: an elixir of youth accidentally falls into the magic potion – and the whole village turns into children.
It arrives alongside an illustrated album based on the film.
And 2025 was already a strong year: the animated series "Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight" arrived on Netflix in April, streamed in 190 countries and picked up five Annie Award nominations.
2026 also marks fifty years since the cult "The Twelve Tasks of Asterix".
What to choose
- Albums: the heart of the category – forty-one volumes.
- Figures: Obelix first in merchandise, then Asterix.
- Plush: Dogmatix for young children.
- Mugs & gifts: with menhirs, potion cauldrons and quotes.
- School gear & accessories: pencil cases, bags, notebooks.
If it is a gift for an adult: an album. This is the one theme in the shop where the book counts as the proper gift, not the fallback.
Same feel – classic comics for all ages: Snoopy, Garfield and Looney Tunes.
