Frequently asked questions about Toshiba
- Which range do I need?
- N300 for home or small office NAS. MG for servers and intensive business use. S300 for camera recorders, where writing is continuous but of a different pattern.
- Why not an ordinary drive in a NAS?
- Because it runs 24 hours a day alongside other drives. NAS drives handle vibration and error correction differently — ordinary drives fail sooner.
- What does 7200 RPM mean?
- Revolutions per minute. Higher speed means faster access, but also more heat and noise. 5400 RPM runs quieter.
- How long do they last?
- Enterprise-class drives carry higher endurance ratings. Regardless, every drive fails eventually — which is why a backup is always needed.
