Beyblade has been through four generations. The current one is Beyblade X.
The generations are not compatible with each other. Different sizes, different launchers, different stadiums – and the products themselves state they are compatible only with their own series.
Here the mistake is not a matter of taste. A top from an older generation literally will not be able to play with the ones the child already owns.
Beyblade is played with two tops inside a stadium – and the stadium is sold separately.

They swap freely within the same generation. That is why players want many tops: they are not collecting toys, they are collecting combinations.
Within the same generation, the tops from both companies are identical in weight and performance, they battle each other normally and their parts interchange. The generation matters, the company does not.

- Do tops from different generations work together?
- No. Each generation is a different system and the products are compatible only with their own series. Ask which series the child already has before buying.
- Do I need a stadium?
- Yes. The game is two tops inside a stadium, and the stadium is sold separately. If the child is starting out, they need a set with a stadium or at least two tops.
- Does Hasbro or Takara Tomy matter?
- No, within the same generation. The tops are identical in weight and performance and battle each other normally.
- What age is it for?
- Six and up. The parts unscrew, so it is not suitable for younger children.

For a beginner's gift: a Balance type. The codes BX, UX, CX on the boxes are lines within the same generation – they play together normally.
1999 the original Beyblade · 2008 Metal Fusion · 2015 Burst · 2023 Beyblade X (the current one).
If someone remembers "Burst" or "Metal Fusion", they mean an older generation – it does not play with today's tops.
The anime is airing now: the third season of Beyblade X continues through 2026. The first Beyblade X Funko POP figures have also arrived.
