Character background and universe (Lore)

The protagonist of Persona 3 Reload is a transfer student at Gekkoukan High School and the main character of the story. Shortly after arriving on Tatsumi Port Island, he discovers the existence of the Dark Hour, a mysterious period that occurs every night between two ordinary days, during which most humans are unconscious.

He then joins the S.E.E.S., an organisation made up of students capable of summoning Personas to fight the Shadows. The protagonist possesses an exceptional ability: unlike most of his companions, he can wield several different Personas thanks to the power of the Wild Card.

His adventure leads him to explore Tartarus, a gigantic tower that appears during the Dark Hour, whilst forging bonds with the other characters through the Social Links system. These relationships play a central role in his progress and in strengthening his Personas.

Calm, reserved and determined, the protagonist has become one of the most iconic figures in the Persona series. In Persona 3 Reload, his story is reimagined with a modernised presentation whilst retaining the major themes of the original work: friendship, time, mortality and the choices each person makes about how to live their life.
