Character background and lore

Obito Uchiha is one of the most important and tragic characters in Naruto Shippuden. In his youth, he was part of Minato Namikaze’s team alongside Kakashi Hatake and Rin Nohara. An idealist and determined to become Hokage, he shared many values with Naruto at the time.

Presumed dead after a mission that turned into a disaster, Obito survived and was taken in by Madara Uchiha. Deeply scarred by the events that followed, he gradually abandoned his former ideals and adopted a worldview based on illusion and the rejection of reality.

Under various identities, notably that of Tobi, he plays a major role in the events leading up to the Fourth Great Ninja War. His Sharingan grants him access to Kamui, a particularly formidable space-time technique that becomes one of his signature moves in battle.
