HAIKYU!! - Samu Kitsune - Figure Fluffy Puffy 9cm

This Banpresto figurine depicts Samu Kitsune, the fox-themed version of Osamu Miya from Haikyu!!. Part of the Fluffy Puffy collection, it measures approximately 9 cm and features the flocked finish characteristic of this range, giving its surface a soft, velvety feel.

Samu Kitsune is depicted as a small, seated fox, with a compact and rounded silhouette. His body is mainly beige with white paw tips, whilst his large tail curves upwards behind him and ends in a broad white patch. His tall grey ears have light-coloured insides and frame a dark brown mane directly inspired by Osamu’s. The black muzzle and half-closed eyes give him a calm and slightly jaded expression, well suited to Miya’s more composed temperament.

The flocked finish covers much of the figurine and enhances its animal-like appearance. The sculpting is deliberately simple to emphasise the rounded forms, the large tail and the facial expression. This approach allows Osamu to be recognised without directly replicating his human silhouette and fits perfectly with Banpresto’s ‘Fluffy Puffy’ concept.

At 9 cm tall, Samu Kitsune can easily be displayed on a desk or a shelf. He is specifically designed to be placed alongside Tsumu Kitsune, with the two figures forming the fox duo inspired by the famous Miya brothers from Inarizaki. The official Haikyu!! website lists the two figurines together under the name ‘Fluffy Puffy – Tsumu Kitsune / Samu Kitsune’.

Origin and character background (Lore)

Samu Kitsune is not a transformation of Osamu that features in the Haikyu!! storyline, but an official mascot version depicting the character in the form of a fox. This interpretation of the Miya brothers already featured in the official merchandise for the fourth season: the anime’s website specifically mentions a set of mascots called ‘Atsumu Fox & Osamu Fox’, confirming the link between Osamu and Samu Kitsune.

Osamu Miya is Atsumu Miya’s twin brother and one of the players for Inarizaki High School, one of the top teams Karasuno faced during the national tournament. Unlike Atsumu, who mainly plays as a setter, Osamu plays as an outside hitter. However, both brothers are remarkably versatile and are able to swap roles in the heat of the moment. The official website highlights, in particular, an attack in which Osamu sets the ball whilst Atsumu finishes the move as the spiker

The bond and constant rivalry between the twins are one of their main strengths. In particular, they manage to replicate, in their own way, the quick attack developed by Hinata and Kageyama, making them particularly unpredictable opponents. Samu Kitsune embodies Osamu’s generally calmer and more composed nature in the form of a small fox mascot with a serene gaze, whilst Tsumu Kitsune represents his brother Atsumu.
