Sakamoto Days
There are two different Sakamotos in the merchandise. And the right one is the fat one.

Two Sakamotos – and it is not a mistake
You will see figures with the same name and completely different bodies. There is a reason, and it is the entire joke of the series.
Taro Sakamoto was the deadliest hitman in the world. Then he fell in love, married, opened a convenience store – and put on weight.
A chubby middle-aged shopkeeper who is still the most dangerous man alive. That is the series.
When he fights seriously, though, he temporarily slims down and returns to his old form.
The iconic form. This is the one everyone recognises, this is the joke, this is what they ask for.
The combat form. Striking, but not as easily recognised.
In practice: if the gift is for someone who has just watched the series, get the fat one. That is the image in their head.
The age – milder than it sounds
"A series about professional hitmen" sounds heavy. The reality is gentler.
The hero's own rule is that he does not kill. He promised his family and he keeps it – even with dozens of assassins hunting him.
The action is comic and stylised: Sakamoto fights with whatever is in the shop – pens, drinking straws, frozen goods.
It is aimed at teenagers and adults. Not for young children, but not extreme either – the heart of the series is family.
Who is who
The chubby one with the glasses and the shop apron. The most requested.
The young man with white hair who reads minds. Second in popularity.
The young woman from a Chinese crime family who also works at the shop.
The convenience store itself is a symbol of the series – it appears on posters and apparel.
Where to watch – and when season two arrives
The anime is exclusive to Netflix. The whole first season is available – twenty-two episodes, released in two parts during 2025.
It was one of the platform's biggest anime successes of the year, with fourteen weeks in the global top ten.
Season two: January 2027, on Netflix.
It has been confirmed with a trailer and a specific month – which is rare. The story moves to the assassins' academy, which Sakamoto and Shin infiltrate.
There is also a live-action film, released in Japan in spring 2026 to strong box office.
What to choose
- Figures & Funko POP: the fat Sakamoto first, then Shin.
- Apparel: t-shirts and hoodies – teen and adult sizes.
- Manga: the story is still running – ideal for anyone who has caught up with the anime.
- Posters & art prints: the series' style is very strong on a wall.
- Keyrings, mugs & accessories: smaller gifts.
For someone who has just finished the season on Netflix: the fat Sakamoto or the manga. The first is the image in their head; the second continues the story beyond what they watched.
Same audience – action with humour and family: Spy × Family, Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man.
