If you ask only one thing before buying, ask the colour. It is the difference between "nice" and "that is exactly what I wanted".
And which season? – thirty different suits
This is the second thing that confuses buyers, and few people explain it.
The show began in 1993 and has run thirty seasons. Each season brings a new team and entirely new suits.
Which means the "Red Ranger" from Mighty Morphin (1993) and the red one from a recent season are two completely different figures.
In practice: if the recipient is an adult who grew up in the '90s, they almost certainly mean Mighty Morphin – the classic. If it is a child watching now, they mean a recent season.
Power Rangers is the American adaptation of the Japanese Super Sentai, which has been running even longer.
What changed with the figures – important for collectors
Until recently Power Rangers toys and figures were made by Hasbro, which bought the franchise in 2018.
From 2025 the licence passed to Playmates Toys – including the Lightning Collection, the line aimed at adult collectors.
Why it matters: if you are building a collection, pieces from the two periods may differ in packaging, scale and finish. Worth knowing before ordering something that has to sit alongside what you already own.
Two audiences, one shelf
Watching the show now. They want figures to play with, weapons and suits – usually the red one.
Grew up with the show in the '90s. They want display-grade collector figures – usually the green one.
It is one of the few categories where the same franchise serves two entirely different markets – and the products differ accordingly: toys on one side, articulated collector figures on the other.
The new series – what is actually confirmed
A great deal circulates here. Let us separate what is confirmed.
In 2024 the plan for a new series at Netflix was cancelled. Hasbro looked for a new partner.
In March 2025 it partnered with 20th Television, with Jonathan Steinberg and Dan Shotz – the team behind "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" – leading it.
In December 2025 it was confirmed that a new live-action series is in development for Disney+.
No release date has been announced. You will find plenty of articles with dates and details – they are not confirmed.
What to choose
- Collector figures: articulated, with accessories – for adult collectors.
- Play figures: durable, for children.
- Funko POP: an easy entry point, small footprint.
- Apparel: children's and adult sizes.
- Mugs, posters & keyrings: gifts in everyone's own colour.
If you know neither the colour nor the season: something with the logo or with the whole team together. It takes no sides and works for any fan.
