Every bear has a symbol on its belly. And the symbol is not decoration – it is the character.
Nobody remembers names. But everyone can point at "the grumpy one with the rain cloud".
There are others – the moon for sleep, the shooting star for wishes. The system is the same throughout.
Which bear for whom
The question is not "which bear?" but "which one suits them?"
Because each badge is a feeling, the gift says something. A Grumpy Bear for a friend who complains constantly is funny. A Good Luck Bear before an exam is a wish.
Cheer or Funshine – the brightest and happiest. Plush is the safe choice.
Grumpy Bear, almost always. The humour of a grouchy bear works better on grown-ups.
Good Luck before something important, Wish Bear for a birthday, Bedtime for a newborn.
Not a children's brand any more
This is the most interesting part of the current picture, and many people have not noticed it.
Care Bears is currently inside adult fashion. Collections have appeared with Uniqlo, Zara, Benetton and Pop Mart.
And a collaboration with adidas Originals has just been announced – an autumn/winter 2026 range of footwear, apparel and accessories, for children and adults.
On the Adilette slides there is even a plush bear attached to the strap – and the colourways draw on Funshine, Cheer and Grumpy Bear.
In practice for a gift: do not assume this is "for small children". A thirty-year-old may enjoy a Care Bear more than a six-year-old – especially if it is Grumpy.
What is coming
The brand turns forty-five in 2027, and activity around it has intensified.
- A new plush range begins shipping from September 2026.
- The adidas collaboration continues with a second range in spring 2027.
- New toy manufacturers joined this year, with more unusual formats.
And two surprising collaborations:
One with Sesame Street – two classic brands together. And a plush range in a subversive version, with deliberately "ugly" details, aimed squarely at adult collectors.
