Recreate the experimental aircraft piloted by Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell with this Darkstar model kit, manufactured by BellFine and inspired by the film Top Gun: Maverick.
This model reproduces the futuristic lines of the US Navy’s fictional hypersonic aircraft. Its sleek black silhouette, wings integrated into the fuselage and compact cockpit give it a look that is both functional and elegant. Despite its cinematic origins, the Darkstar features a realistic design reminiscent of experimental aeronautical programmes dedicated to very high-speed flight.
The kit allows you to reproduce several of the aircraft’s moving parts. The separator controlling the transition between the turbojet and scramjet engines can be moved, whilst the cockpit features an opening canopy. Parts are also included to display the aircraft in either take-off or landing configuration, depending on the desired display.

Origin and background of the aircraft
In Top Gun: Maverick, the Darkstar is an experimental hypersonic aircraft developed as part of a secret US Navy programme. Maverick is tasked with piloting it to reach speeds close to Mach 10, despite the threat of the project being cancelled.
The aircraft is equipped with two types of propulsion: turbojet engines used during the early stages of flight and scramjets designed for hypersonic speeds. Although fictional, its design is inspired by real-world aeronautical research and was conceived to look technically credible on screen.
