Origin and background of the character
Yuji Itadori is the pure-hearted central protagonist of the dark fantasy epic Jujutsu Kaisen, the shonen masterpiece created by mangaka Gege Akutami. An ordinary high school student with innate superhuman physical abilities, his life is turned upside down the day he swallows a high-grade cursed object to save his friends, becoming the host of the legendary and cruel King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. Sentenced to a suspended execution, he joins the Tokyo Exorcism School under the tutelage of the powerful Satoru Gojo. Driven by a promise made to his grandfather to help others so he might ‘die surrounded’, Yuji masters the mysteries of the Divergent Fist and the Black Ray (Kokuho) to defeat cursed spirits.
