Origin and character lore
In the world of horror cinema, Chucky was originally a doll from the hugely popular ‘Good Guys’ range, designed to be the ideal playmate for children. His fate takes a tragic turn when Charles Lee Ray, a sadistic serial killer and voodoo practitioner nicknamed the ‘Lakeshore Strangler’, is fatally wounded by the police in a toy shop. Before breathing his last, he recites an occult incantation to transfer his soul into the plastic doll. Trapped within this deceptively innocent form, Chucky secretly comes to life and displays boundless cruelty as he hunts down new victims, in the hope of transferring his spirit into a human body of flesh and bone.
