Because The Lost World: Jurassic Park featured both male and female raptors, a new and more vibrant color scheme was developed for the wild male counterparts, distinguishing them from the more monotone gray-brown females seen in the original film. The wild pack's coloration was noticeably richer and more striking. The ornately detailed raptor eyes used in the film-featuring a sculpted yellow core, orange latticework, green lateral coloration, and a clear dental acrylic coating-were created by the team at Stan Winston Studio (SWS). During pre-production, the raptor eye was inserted into a fully detailed eye socket section to demonstrate the dinosaurs' potential eye movements to Steven Spielberg.
