Origin and world of the character
Billy is the emblematic ventriloquist dummy in the horror-thriller film saga Saw, initiated by James Wan and Leigh Whannell in 2004. In the plot of the films, this pallid figure with dark eyes and cheeks marked by red spirals is not inhabited by a supernatural force. It serves as a communication tool for John Kramer, a methodical serial killer nicknamed "Jigsaw". Jigsaw uses the doll, dressed in a black dinner jacket and red bow tie, to appear on television screens in front of his captive victims. Through audio recordings broadcast by the puppet, he sets out in a deep, modified voice the strict rules of the tests and complex mechanical traps they must undergo if they hope to survive.
