Origin and background of the character
Kurama is one of the main and most memorable characters in the cult series Yu Yu Hakusho, created by the genius mangaka Yoshihiro Togashi. Originally, Youko Kurama was a fearsome and cruel Class A fox demon specialising in the theft of spiritual artefacts. After being seriously injured by a spirit hunter, he was forced to fuse his soul with that of an unborn human child, Shuichi Minamino, in order to survive. Although he usually uses his botanical powers in his red-haired human form, fierce spiritual battles sometimes force him to unleash his former energy. He then regains his original demonic appearance: long silvery-white hair, fox ears and a silky tail. This Maximatic figurine perfectly captures this spectacular metamorphosis. The sculptor has meticulously rendered his wild, flowing hair, the fluid drapes of his light-coloured traditional combat outfit, and his piercing, calculating gaze, thus immortalising one of the most iconic and strategic figures of the Shadow Martial Arts Tournament.
