The fearsome leader of the Decepticons, Megatron, joins the Transformers: Age of the Primes collection in a version powered by Dark Energon. This transformable figure stands out thanks to its translucent purple armour and details inspired by this dark energy, closely linked to the most dangerous forces in the Transformers universe.

In robot mode, Dark Energon Megatron stands approximately 17 cm tall. His massive build, imposing cannon and various mechanical elements give him a menacing appearance, befitting his role as supreme commander of the Decepticons.

The figure transforms from robot mode to Cybertronian tank mode in 17 steps. The tracks, turret and armour panels rearrange to form a heavy combat vehicle, capable of joining the other characters in the collection in ground-based battles.

Dark Energon Megatron is also compatible with Dark Energon Cybertronic, sold separately. This Weaponizer can be split into several components that enhance Megatron’s armour and firepower.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Megatron is the leader of the Decepticons and Optimus Prime’s long-standing adversary. Depending on the various Transformers continuities, he often begins his life as a gladiator, a revolutionary or a fighter opposed to the injustices of Cybertronian society.

However, his ambitions evolve into a desire for absolute domination. Convinced that only the most powerful Cybertronians should rule, Megatron rallies the Decepticons and wages war against the Autobots, who champion freedom and peaceful coexistence.

His most iconic weapon is a powerful cannon mounted on his arm. He combines considerable physical strength, great tactical intelligence and an almost inexhaustible determination, enabling him to take on Optimus Prime head-on.

The Age of the Primes collection explores the legacy of the Thirteen Primes, regarded in many versions of the mythology as the first Cybertronians. Their powers, artefacts and conflicts continue to influence the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons.

Energon is the Transformers’ primary source of energy. It powers their mechanical bodies, their weapons and their transformation abilities. Its standard form is essential to the survival of the Cybertronians.

Black Energon is a far more unstable and corrupting variant. In several stories, it is associated with Unicron, a cosmic entity representing destruction and chaos. It can considerably increase the power of whoever uses it, but it can also alter their body and mind.

Always seeking an advantage over the Autobots, Megatron has no qualms about exploiting this energy despite its dangers. The translucent purple colour of this figure represents the Dark Energon flowing through his armour and powering his systems.

When combined with Dark Energon Cybertronic, Megatron can be fitted with several additional armour plates. This combination transforms the Weaponizer into combat gear and illustrates how the Decepticon leader uses his own troops to increase his power.
