Origin and character background
Ken Takakura, universally nicknamed ‘Okarun’ to avoid any confusion with the legendary actor of the same name, is the central protagonist of the global hit Dandadan, the high-octane manga written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu. A fan of conspiracy theories and aliens, this shy and introverted teenager sees his daily life turned upside down after making a bet with his classmate Momo Ayase. Whilst exploring a haunted place, he falls victim to the terrible curse of Granny Turbo, a vicious poltergeist who takes possession of his body. To fight alongside Momo, Okarun learns to channel this spectral force to transform into an all-powerful humanoid entity of prodigious agility, capable of moving at lightning speed.
